FAYE MEANA

FAYE MEANA

Friday 26th April at Rough Trade East

Producer and singer-songwriter, Faye Meana’s soulful experimentations will make you dance and cry at the same time. Her artistry is built on an alchemic combination of serendipity and raw talent; and when brought together, you have the catalyst for the kind of artist whose unique style comes with ambient layers of depth.

Over the past few years, Faye’s EPs have been in the lineage of the likes of Erykah Badu and suffused with a warm optimism. Her debut EP Nothing’s The Same arrived in 2017. Two years later Faye followed up with her sophomore EP, Shades Of A Dreamer. With resounding production and stark lyrics, Shades, revealed an artist speaking to the inner workings of her own mind with immense vulnerability and clarity. 2021’s Sweeter Than Heaven is a funkier, and more sonically diverse EP.

With continuous support from press such as Wonderland, Notion and CLASH, and print features in magazines such as Haste, Faye is consistently leaving an infectious mark with each release. Her listens on tracks such as ‘Giving It In’ from her most recent EP ‘Shades Of A Dreamer’, amass to over 3 million on Spotify only. Prioritising the interplay between slick bass, synth and her vocals, as much as the lyrical messaging; she crafts a remarkably broad emotional arc in under 20 minutes. Her masterful blends of neo-soul, electronic and disco celebrate the complexity of each genre’s history, brandishing her ineffable ability to experiment with any sound she chooses.
