LAST NUBIAN
Friday 25th April at 93 Feet East
Over the past few years, Last Nubian (real name Tre Wright) has quietly made a name for himself with his unique explorations into House, Brokenbeat, and live performances. Growing up with classic UK club music as the soundtrack to everyday life, he absorbed everything from grime and garage to funky house and reggae through family and friends.
Since then, Last Nubian has released several crucial EPs on independent labels like Tiffs Joints, Woop Records, and Flat White Records, where his Ghetto Child EP received widespread support from Pete Tong on Radio One, Mixmag, and many others. At the beginning of 2023, he released his first independent EP titled We Got There First, a momentous 6-track project that bridges broken beat, house, and jazz. This was followed by a collaboration with South London’s Touching Bass, which has caught the attention of many musicians and DJs across England, including Gilles Peterson.
As a DJ, Last Nubian holds a residency at South London online station Balamii, where he plays everything from dusty jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop to freshly released club sounds. With a host of exciting new releases on the horizon and recent live performances at 91 Living Room and Gilles Peterson's renowned festival We Out Here, Last Nubian is poised to become a well-known name for his enigmatic productions and shows in the near future.
