2:00pm-3:00pm - athenian lychee
athenian lychee infuses her love for global soundscapes into every set. Like many, her musical journey began on the dancefloor and community spaces, where she fell in love with the connection music creates. athenian lychee’s sound is rooted in Greece and inspired by the sunny sounds of the world. She blends together sounds across the jazz and funk spectrum from UK street soul to Brazil boogie and italo disco.
3:00pm-5:00pm - Nana
Nana is a south London selector and Voices resident. Her monthly show Roots and Branches is an exploration of roots reggae and the sounds that have shaped her life. Expect to hear a blend of roots, lovers, soul, jazz and funk to warm up Brick Lane Jazz festival.
5:00pm-7:00pm - Sara El Harak
Music has always been integral to Sara El Harrak’s journey as a DJ and Broadcaster. She cut her teeth assisting on radio stations like Balamii, NTS, Worldwide FM and began playing her selections out. Notable gigs include Lost Village, We Out Here, Basket Of Light, Shubbak and AWAN festivals. As well as opening up for music hero Erykah Badu at Southbank Centre, playing alongside Andrew Ashong, Marc Mac and Vikter Duplaix, who have all had a rich influence on Sara’s sound.
From WAV to wax, bruk to gnawa, house, jazz, soul, rare groove and beyond Sara’s confident in her music sensibilities and loves sharing her music prowess to bring people together in the dance. Expect soul-filled rhythms, polyrhythmic grooves, easy jazzy sensibilities and high energy.
7:00pm-9:00pm - Beringei b2b Kit Lockey
London based producer Beringei looks to explore deeper into the sounds that brings us all together as people. Whether it be through ethereal instrumentation to let your mind wander or rhythm focused to help us (re)connect with those around us.
Kit Lockey is the co-owner of community station Voices Radio; as well as a DJ and burgeoning music producer. Outside of the studio, you can find him blending groove-focused tracks across broken beat, house, jazz, funk, soul, hip hop + more around London at music-first venues like Spiritland, Space Talk, The Library Lounge at The Standard Hotel, as well as festivals like We Out Here, Love Supreme and Secret Garden Party.
9:00pm-11:00pm - blissy e
blissy e has spent years carving out a career in music from her time studying classical music at university, working at a record label & being brought up on a concoction of soul, reggae, hiphop & funk.
Taking inspiration from her Caribbean roots, afro-centric contributions to art and her love of the club scene she's carved out a distinctive sound for herself, focusing at all times on celebrating music from all corners of the globe.
Since securing residencies on Noods Radio and Melodic Distraction in early 2021 she's been forging a name for herself in the independent radio world which has earnt her gigs with Janet Kay & Carroll Thompson, Pinty, WOLF Music, Tim Garcia & Afla Sackey at venues such as Nt’s Loft, Jumbi, Peckham Audio, The Standard, 91 Living Room, Gottwood Festival & many more.
Now a breakfast host on Voices Radio, she continues to evolve as a DJ and showcase her unique sonic blend to the world.
11:00pm-Midnight - Footshooter
Footshooter is the moniker of South London-based producer and DJ Barney Whittaker. Amongst broken beat, Footshooter’s production style takes influences from jazz, house, and more, working with rappers, poets and vocalists to create a soulful sound referencing the past while being firmly visionary in its approach.
Barney’s records as Footshooter and SAUL (with Jack Stephenson-Oliver on Rhythm Section International) have earned airplay and support on BBC Radio 1 and 1XTRA, BBC 6Music, NTS Radio, Jazz FM, and Rinse FM, from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Bradley Zero, Errol (Touching Bass), Alexander Nut (Eglo Records), Shy One, Virgil Abloh, Zakia, Jyoty, Nabihah Iqbal, Bonobo, Jamz Supernova, Mary Anne Hobbs, Mr. Scruff, and more.
